Krishna Menon Memorial Government Women’s College Kannur, Kerala
I am an Associate Professor of Economics at Krishna Menon Memorial Government Women’s College in Kannur, Kerala. I earned my PhD in Economics from Kannur University in 2010 and hold an M.A. in Econometrics and an MPhil in Economics from Pondicherry University.
At the college, I teach core courses in Development Economics, Heterodox Economics, Macroeconomics, Econometrics, and Research Methodology. My research interests lie in Development Economics, with a focus on human development, decentralization and regional economic development, and child health and nutrition.
I serve as an expert committee member on two working groups constituted by the State Planning Board, Government of Kerala. These groups are focused on ‘Knowledge Economy, Employment and Skills – 14th Five Year Plan 2022-27’ and ‘Development Interventions by Local Self-Government Institutions (LSGIs).’
Currently, I am guiding four PhD scholars whose research areas include fiscal sustainability and urban governance, the impact of consumer behaviour on the retail market in Kerala, household consumption patterns in urban Kerala, and the working conditions and work-life balance of women in the informal sector. Additionally, I regularly contribute articles on current economic topics to popular newspapers and magazines.
